Our Minister
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because
God has anointed me to proclaim good news.
Luke 4:18
On a bright Sunday morning in July, as we at Menifee United Church of Christ were gathered together to worship, a stranger joined us. Not many took notice till we began joyfully singing our family hymn. It was then we noticed her, with her beautiful voice, singing praise to God. This energetic, positive woman wandered into our church services, blessing us with her presence at a time when we at Menifee UCC needed her most. Rev. Sarah Gomez- Lorraine, had heard of our congregation through social media and needed to see this determined congregation for herself.
Rev. Sarah Gomez- Lorraine originally from Kodiak Island, Alaska has called many states home. She’s been involved with the Coast Guard, Navy and is an Army spouse. A graduate of Andover Newton Theological School with a Master's in Divinity and a Masters of Arts in Global Interreligious Leadership. While attending ANTS, was a “Member in Discernment” with the United Church of Christ, the recipient of the UCC "Make a Difference Award", Merit Based Scholar, the 2016 Graduation Commencement Speaker, and became a Lieutenant in the Navy's Chaplain Candidate program. Rev. Sarah has served in UCC congregations for the past 6 years in varying forms of ministry in Hawaii, Massachusetts, New York and now Menifee, CA. After graduation Rev. Sarah was ordained with “The Covenant of the Cross”, a Progressive Independent Charismatic Congregation in Nashville, TN. Then serving in 3 hospitals as a Chaplain Intern, Resident and currently continues her Chaplain ministry at VA Hospital Loma Linda. For the last 5 years she’s been happily married to Sgt. LaReina Gomez-Lorraine (originally from San Bernardino) proudly serves Active Duty in the US Army, stationed at Escondido Army Recruiting Center. Both are excited to be back in the area.
Rev. Sarah says she is thrilled that God has brought her to serve the Congregation of UCC Menifee, where we are small, but mighty in God! All thanks be to God for God is always good, all the time! Her hope is to serve so that we may grow in our understanding of The Divine and come to recognize the Creator's Divinity within us individually and as a whole.
